Toxic relationships among campus students
Genuine Relationshipor Just Traps
Campus life is exhilarating with no one to watch your back and freedom in the very air which goes into student's head. Getting into relationships among students is a major thing that affect the education of one, choosing between the commitment of learning and loving becomes tricky with lifestyle peer pressure trying new ideas and temptation contributing to it.
For a relationship to thrive it needs commitment and quite some good time and juggling this with studying needs some good level of maturity. Bernard Nyasimi former student Moi University pursuing medicine fell in love with Elizabeth Kisili and even had a child and their parents were kept in the blind for two years. In the two years it was a struggle for them to sustain the young one to an extent of coming up with a WhatsApp group to fundraise for their upkeep and Elizabeth had to differ.
Lifestyle and peer pressure play a part with one being a toddler in this life trying new ideas. Just because your course mates are in relationships you tend to be like them or face rejection. Ivy Wangechi,28,Moi University student was a victim of Naftal Njahi, she was killed in day broad light after the boyfriend Naftal said to have sent her money for her birthday party. Ivy was stabbed simply because she didn't respond to his calls and messages.
The social network one has in campus determines who you associate and get into an affair with. Most girls will prefer well to do man "the Mercedes type" or well known. Well we come from different backgrounds but life is for living nobody wants to suffer. Flashy lifestyle is what most of us want with daily trends on us.
Getting intimate comes in real quick it's not a secret anymore. Young people are very energetic and to bed is no big deal but when you have a partner who can't satisfy your desires the next thing is to cheat. A wind of cheating or getting your partner in the act lowers self esteem often leading to drug abuse and to the extreme suicide. In Matilili a second year student took his life after his girlfriend ended the affair because the lady had felt her desires were not fulfilled.
Sometimes jealousy makes one jump into a relationship unknowingly and coming out abused. 57% of students in campus cannot tell why they are in relationships and if even they are abused or not.

ReplyDeleteThis is great and very informative. I've witnessed people in relationships fighting each other back in the college. You can imagine someone laying his hands on you yet you even not sure if he's going to marry you thereafter. Campus relationships are very toxic and it's a waste of each other's time.
